Jaguar Offering Tray Figurine

In many ancient cultures, offerings were placed in vessels shaped like powerful animals, believed to protect what was held within and to carry blessings to the home. Effigy bowls, ceremonial grinding stones and animal-footed trays have been found from the Americas to the Mediterranean, each one a fusion of art, ritual and everyday use. The Jaguar Offering Tray draws on that rich heritage, reimagined as a refined, designer-level piece for the modern home.

The figure stands firmly on four strong, rounded legs, with its body forming a wide, open vessel. Its rim is softly irregular and organic, shaped by hand rather than mould, giving the tray a natural, earthen character. At the front, a sculpted head gazes forward with quiet authority, its crown worked into a textured, knotted crest. At the back, a thick tail curls gracefully down to meet the hind leg, forming an elegant loop that completes the silhouette and adds a sense of movement.

The surface is where the craftsmanship truly shines. Around the rim, a band of hand-incised geometric motifs, like an ancient script or a carved stone frieze, is highlighted in soft moss green and ochre that settles into every line. The legs are carved with intricate diamond-lattice and nested square patterns, reminiscent of tribal textiles and temple carvings. The rest of the body is finished in a deep espresso and dark glaze with a soft, earthy sheen, while the interior of the tray carries a speckled, stone-like finish that feels warm and natural.

The Jaguar Offering Tray is as practical as it is beautiful. Use it on an entryway console to catch keys and treasured objects, on a dining table or sideboard to hold seasonal fruit, on a dressing table for jewellery, or in a living room as a sculptural centrepiece filled with stones, candles or dried botanicals. Even left empty, it holds its space with confidence and character.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth. As each piece is handmade, slight variations in shape, glaze and texture are natural.
